Jagged Edge
When A Murder Case Is This Shocking, Which Do You Trust...Your Emotions Or Your Evidence?
A grisly homicide...a sensational trial...a forbidden affair. It's Jagged Edge, a razor-sharp suspense thriller about crime, punishment and passion. Jeff Bridges is the prime suspect and Glen Close plays the attorney who falls in love with him. When a San Francisco socialite is viciously murdered, her publisher-husband, Jack Forrester (Bridges), is accused of committing the crime. Teddy Barnes (Close) decides to defend the charming, manipulative Jack, only to disregard legal ethics by having an affair with him. With the help of private eye Sam Ranson (Robert Loggia), she takes on a ruthless D.A. (Peter Coyote) who's using the case as a political steppingstone. However, a startling revelation puts Teddy in jeopardy of becoming the next victim of the Jagged Edge.

Brilliant and gripping court drama - AvidOscarBee
Having seen this movie for the first time over 20 years ago was shocking, moving, gripping and the best court room drama I've seen since "And Justice For All". True to form, Jeff Bridges is utterly convincing as the "innocent" victim and bravo to Glenn Close who always gives a powerful performance and rises to the occasion every time. The comic relief and "reasoning" in the movie comes from the engaging and brilliant Robert Loggia. If you love law, or crime thrillers, this is the one to watch. It will not disappoint.Another well-oiled machine by Joe Eszterhas... (but something's missing) - Sparky4
You remember Joe Eszterhas don't you? The famous Hollywood screenwriter/scumbag that was famous for writing Flashdance, Betrayed and Basic Instinct as well as Jade and Showgirls (ah, well now you know why I call him a scumbag). Actually, I consider Showgirls to be underrated, but that's another review. But anyway, back to Jagged Edge:
It all adds up to a superior courtroom thriller, albeit something that would play better as a TV movie. I won't give away the ending, except to say that Joe Eszterhas rips himself off WAY too much. Did he see this again the day he got the idea for Basic Instinct?
Also, the chemistry between Glenn Close and Jeff Bridges is lacking a little, although her character is certainly well developed. In other words, "Fatal Attraction" is still Glenn's most powerhouse performance. But who would argue with that?
