Joshua
One man holds the answer.
Based on the best-selling novel by Joseph Girzone that touched the lives of millions, Joshua is an inspirational story about a stranger whose mysterious "supernatural" powers inspire a small town.
When Joshua moves to the outskirts of Auburn, he awakens the curiosity of the sleepy town. The locals aren't quite sure what to make of him. They don't know who he is or where he came from, but no one can shake the feeling that they've known him for years. Known only by his first name, his wisdom and compassion place him at the center of the town's attention. This attention intensifies as Joshua shatter prejudice and misconception, and even seems to perform miracles. Despite this benevolence and selfless work in the community, some remain suspicious. There are those who feat that no one in today's world would do something for nothing. Just what exactly is Joshua up to? In the end, it is the answer to that question which is nearly as extraordinary as the discovery of that same transforming power in each of their own hearts.
Tony Goldwyn, Academy Award winner F. Murray Abraham and Academy Award nominee Giancarlo Giannini star in this film, complemented with a film score by Michael W. Smith.

Terribly disappointed to see such well-renowned actors selling out in this Catholic propaganda piece. At least the unholy army-cum-church-1870 of imperialist world-conquering old Rome is shown softened in its 2000 year old arrogant stance "we are Followers of the One True Religion, and the rest of you are apostate". A little air time is allowed another sect within the myriad male-
conventional beliefs conflating the male alone with the god man made thereafter into his own image: the Baptists! Ironic choice given the role of the all-male-institute in supporting slavery! Thus begins the process of co-opting in other faiths, Baptists, fake miracle working evangelists converted to the "way" by superior example how divine power transfer is really done by the genuine article, God-as-Jesus. Watched it with the fascination one feels at watching U-tube shorts of people doing stupid things thinking they are being clever. If this is another example of what human society currently thinks illumines human mental and spiritual evolution, you poor pitiable creatures. Go join the dinosaur! "Beam me up, Scottie... no intelligent life below".Simple Life Lessons - ppink
I liked this story and the simplicity of the movie and storyline that came along with it. This wasn't "Hollywoody" but a simple man showing us a better way to being less cynical and hardened by life.
The story could have been developed more, yes, but I would rather have a story that leaves me wondering things about its characters then being bored from beginning to end.
I could see a sequeal to this story, easily, but I know it won't be written. Oh well, the bible awaits for further reading about Joshua. :)
