A little like the newer movie Zathura (or well, Zathura is more like Jumangi). Love Kirsten Dunst acting as a child, you can defiantely see why she became such a succesful actress. Used to creep me out a bit as a child so if your little one scares easily you might want to watch it during daylight. But a very fun movie. Would recomend it!!the game must go on. - movie_goer
Make sure you have a survival book and first Aid handy in case you run into a stampede or a hunter. Jumanji is a game thats real in a make belive way. the specail effects are out dated.the story is based for a youth audience.but it still makes a luke warm, average thrill, not much thinking invovled movie.
Robin Williams plays 'Allen perrish'. stuck in the game when something goes wrong, his best friend Sarah Whittle (bonnie hunt), gets treated for insanity when she explians what happen to Allen. in complete shame and many years of counseling, the game appears agian and now she reunited years later with Allen. scared and both now adults. This time our they prepared?~ WILD STRANGE AND MOSTLY FUN RIDE ~ 3 Stars ~ - SqueakyChair
SNAPSHOT: Disappointing but worth watching. Action sequences and special effects are superb for the year of film. Fast if a little uneven paced. Sometimes convoluted and hard to take in. All considered it is a fun ride that leaves you feeling it could have been more.
MORE THOUGHTS: The kids will like it. It is decent Robin Williams style fun action for the whole family. I enjoyed it even if i was left feeling that it should have been, could have been much better translated as conceived. Don't let my opinion make you NOT see this film if you are swaying in deciding.
Might i suggest these better adventure DVDs from ZIP.ca
