Ladyhawke
Ladyhawke is an enchanting tale of a beauty, a knight - and a pickpocket known as the Mouse. Once the knight and the lady were lovers. Now the curse of an evil Bishop keeps them "always together, eternally apart." By day she is a hawk, by night he is a wolf. To end the evil spell, the knight vows to break into the Bishop's stonghold, with help from the Mouse.

Best Sword and Sorcery Flick from the 80's - WishToronto
I saw this back when I was in high school and ended up getting it for my kids. It's not a gory fantasy flick like those we see now nor the Arnie style rocker fantasy flicks of the 80's a la Conan. It's a great fantasy flick for kids, very little blood shed, sword play, scary sorcery, a love story, beautiful scenery and the kids think Broderick is a hoot. I would recommend this highly for any families.Romantic. Magical. Gothic. - cathyottawa
I first saw this movie in a highschool class. It was meant to demonstrate for us the meaning of "anti-hero".
That would be Mathew Broderick's character, in a scene stealing role. He is Phillipe Gaston, a petty thief who lives life by his wits, and takes life one day at a time.
Phillipe stumbles into the plight of Etienne & Isabeau. The descriptor for this movie unfortunately gives away the secret. If you haven't read it yet, don't. You'll have much more fun if you don't know.
This is a gothic tale of true love. Michelle Phiffer is beautiful and graceful, and a pleasure to watch. Rutger Hauer is perfectly cast as a knght. He is rugged and sexy, and masculine.
Phillipe is there for much needed comic relief, and Mathew Broderick does a great job.
The supporting cast is also wonderful. We have a drunken monk, looking to redeem himself. And an evil Bishop, who is obsessed with Isabeau.
Let yourself get lost in this wonderful fairy tale. You'll be glad you did.Action Fantasy Romance Fun! - Norcat_QC
One of the most picturesque films for the escapist Sword and Sorcery fan. Shot in Italy in 13 different locations and six different castles, this film takes full effect of private historical property you and I will probably never get to in person.
Rutger Hauer is big and swashbuckling, Michelle Pfeiffer is beautiful as always, and Matthew Broderick is above par as the reluctant wisecracking thief.
My only reservation is with the movies score by Alan Parsons. Some real studio garbage that may befit a Rocky VII but was totally inapropriate for the awesome scenic backdrop of this story.Good fun good story.
