Last Action Hero
Danny Madigan knows all the first 3 Jack Slater movies in and out. The 4th one is just about to be released too, and with a magical ticket Danny really gets to know that movie in and out too, literaly speaking. During one of the action climaxes Danny is transported into the movie, into a world following other rules than the real one. Benedict, one of the evil guys, gets hold of the ticket and escapes out to the real world, a world where evil guys can actually win. Danny and Jack follow him back to the real world to get back the ticket and stop Benedict from killing the actor playing Jack.

Perhaps because this came out in the same era of the big-budget, over the top movies it parodies, this movies did not fare so well, and was a critical bust.
But watching it, 15+ years later, this movie had something going for it. No one takes their role very seriously, intentionally over-acting some parts, and breaking the fourth wall so much you would think it is 100-year-old plaster.
A movie for fans of the action and comedy genres.Highly underrated! - dural78
This is an amazingly clever movie! I never understood why it took such a thrashing by critics. All throughout, it never takes itself too seriously. Things blow up instantaneously, window panes can be punched out with ease, and every good bit of fortune coincidentally occurs for Jack Slate.
Any fan of 80s and 90s action movies will love the parodies and cameos.good for a laugh - leo1jm2
When Hollywood demonstrates the exageration that they portray on the screen, choosing Arnold for the role made this very funny flick. never really noted for hos acting ability, Arnold actually does a very good job in this one. I actually found myself held in my seat, even though I knew how it would end, and that says a lot for any movie.
To watch a movie within a movie, combining extreme fantasy within fantasy was quite amusing. I was intrigued as a child to see men who had benn shot and killed in last Saturday's matinee, back in this Saturday's matinee until I understood it was all fantasy. Arnold , and this flick, brought that back to mind how people actually look at movies as reality.
This movie is very entertaining but does not rate up there with the best because of the story line, and Arnold will never be a great actor, but what he does is good enough for him.
