Made
The easy part is surviving the mob. The hard part is surviving the friendship.
Swingers co-stars Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn team up with rap superstar Sean Combs and the legendary Peter Falk ("Columbo") in this wickedly hilarious tale of two hapless guys trying their best to go bad...with criminally comic results.
Bobby (Favreau) is a would-be boxer who just wants to settle down with his stripper girlfriend (Famke Janssen). His lifelong pal Ricky (Vaughn) is a smalltime hustler who dreams of being a mafia hotshot. So when mob boss Max (Peter Falk) offers the two buddies temporary work as out-of-town mafia "muscle," the two friends head for New York - where Ricky's delusions of gangster grandeur plunge them both into the Big Apple's seductive underworld of stretch limos, fast women and pricey nightclubs. But when Ricky's bumbling attempts to look like a "made" man ignite a dangerous confrontation with a rival gang lord, it becomes apparent that for these two not-so-goodfellas, crime definitely doesn't pay... and it could end up costing them big time!

Reuniting Vince Vaughn and John Favreau for the first time since Swingers, Made was released just prior to the pair making it big in Hollywood.
Made is an awesome mix of humor and drama, and while the story itself is actually quite interesting the laughs are very consistent. I would recommend this film to those who love dark comedies and classic rambling Vince Vaughn.Great follow-up to Swingers - arigold
Made is a very funny movie about two "stooges" who are trying to make it in the Mob. Jon Favreau plays the straight man, and Vince Vaughn is a terrific funny-man. The film starts in Los Angeles, and takes them to New York where they are on a seemingly simple assignment, but Vaughn makes sure to get them in trouble at every turn. Sean Combs (P-Diddy) also stars as a Mob middle man with whom they are working. The great chemistry (Swingers) is apparent, and Vaughn's delivery of a well-written script is sure to make you laugh.Casting missteps, chaotic and confused script, not serious - Porkchop
MADE, released 2001 will probably be of interest to viewers weighing
Vince Vaughn's cult status, and to the curiosity surrounding the
script.
Unfortunately, the entertainment promises made turn out short, in
more ways than one.
First, it can' t be denied that Jon Favreau does a great acting job
as the "straight man" (reminiscent of James Gandolfini) while Vaughn
puts in a solid effort as he "comedian" among the 2 gangster
trainees. Yet, the latter doesn't manage to put in that magic touch
that makes any difference or that matters in the overall story, just
his usual artful skill in his verbal exchanges with the other
protagonists.
The errors, were perhaps casting Peter Falk as the lead mobster in
this film, considering the number of years the actor has been
type-cast as a television actor playing Columbo. Also, his schtick
doesn't seem entirely convincing, as he seems entirely too
intellectual, too literate and too comfortable in his Columbo
mannerisms that he's inculcated in his other role. There is an
identical flaw in selecting P Diddy playing a mobster, considering
most people won't separate the real life persona from the actor
playing his role in this picture, perhaps due to lack of time in
acting school, although Diddy does manage a valuable presence, as
does Falk.
The story, to me, fails in terms of coherence, and above all,
entertainment value, as it seems written by someone with a bad
hangover, such that a minimalist, direct sequence of events is
shown, which takes away from the credibility of the movie, (as it's
too often demonstrated in low-budget TV pictures.)
The strong point, is the realism of the scenario, a money laundering
cash drop, among several gangsters. There's an important issue
raised, also, which are the low moral standards and confused
behavior seen in certain social circles, which shocks newcomers,
(such as Favreau's charac
