Magic of Fellini
"The fact is, you can't understand the present we're in... without knowing the past. And you can't understand your own culture without knowing those of others. In this regard, Fellini's work is like a treasure chest. You open it up and there, right in front of your eyes, a world of wonders springs up - ancient wonders, new ones, provincial wonders and universal ones... real wonders and fantastic ones. And great masters like Fellini are like lighthouses... to guide us into that harbor." - Martin Scorsese
This documentary is in honor of one of the most important Maestros of Italian Cinema, Federico Fellini. It features a college of rare interviews with those who met and worked with Fellini, his friends and collaborators who share thoughts, laughs, confidences and remembrances of the Maestro.
The Magic of Fellini is an exploration of the director's dreams, his drawings and his sense of making films as making love. Included are interviews with actors who have worked with Fellini and the many directors who were influenced by his work. The interviews are intercut with clips from Fellini's films, behind-the-scenes footage, his drawings, photographs and personal memorabilia.

It's interesting to see Fellini's friends and co-workers comment on him. There is a lot of love given to him by people who reflect that he is a reference point in Italian cinema that they still cannot do without. However, this is repetitive and unenlightening, you're better off to buy Fellini's book of art.For any Fellini fan - ransom
If you like Fellini you'll like this. Lots of interesting interviews with the actors he's worked with over the years and illuminating insights into the master's unconventional process. It seems Fellini was often reluctant to tell actors what was going on or even to let them see a script. He liked to make it up as he was going along and capitalize on the surprises that happened during shooting.
