Magnolia is a mosaic of American life woven through a series of comic and poignant vignettes. Through a collusion of coincidence, chance, human action, shared media, past history and divine intervention, nine people will weave and warp through each other's lives on a day that builds to an unforgettable climax. Some will seek forgiveness, others escape. Some will mend frayed bonds, others will be exposed.

Brave storytelling - crazyboutmovies
Magnolia is a sprawling, epic story about lives of different peoples, different families, different live experiences,and how their lives intersect and affect one another.
While the various storylines seemingly have no relationship to one another, there is a logic to the apparent non-linear way of storytelling chosen by the director.
Great performances by a truly all-star cast, all contributing to making this very couragous, very original piece of story-telling.Magnolia - Derekstar
This is such a beautiful film. It seems to polarize people, but to me it was incredibly moving. I was on board the whole way. During the last 15 minutes of the film I felt a mix of exultation and awe and confusion and slight panic. Forget movies, in my LIFE that's an emotion I've never experienced before. The movie is a solid 3 hours, but I spent at least half of it on the verge of a complete emotional breakdown, so it just flies by. I think this is by far Tom Cruise's best role. This was quite the character he played and I really enjoyed his performance in this movie, not being a fan of his generally speaking. He should do more movies like this!
I love Phillip Seymour Hoffman as well and he was terrific as a nurse/care taker for the dying man, he is very sensitive and feels other's pain.
Julianne Moore was amazing..the whole cast was!! if you like dramas and especiallty those that take several differetn (good on their own) stories and intertwine them - this is a movie for you!
