Maid To Order
...worse help is hard to find.
Jessie Montgomery (Ally Sheedy) is rich and bored. The Beverly Hills raised daughter of a widower (Tom Skerritt) has become a spoiled brat. Her father wishes he never had a daughter. Unknown to all, his wish is granted by a fairy godmother Stella (Beverly D'Angelo). Stella transforms Jessie into a homeless penniless outsider, who is forced to work as a maid for wealthy social climbers Stan and Georgette Starkey (Dick Shawn and Valerie Perrine) and their daughter Brie (Rainbow Phoenix). Jessie learns the hard way to coexist with the Starkey's staff, Cook (Merry Clayton) maid (Begona Plaza) and handsome young chauffeur (Michael Ontkean). What begins as a cruel nightmare unfolds into a fairytale lesson about the meaning of true friendship and love.

Cute, predictable and definetly the 80's!!!
Ally Sheedy is the damselle in distress who's pushed her fathers last button and his bank account to overdrive. When her spending habits loose control and her attitude is less than responsible or desirable shes wished away to learn her lessons. And thats when the Grimms brother adaptation of Cinderella comes alive. In the end we the audience learn to love Sheedy's character and yes she wins over our hearts, then gets the dream guy, learns life the hard way and earns her old life back but with a few lessons learned along the way.Yes, it is Cliche' and Predictable, but it is also Fun and Sweet! - 1writer
Maid to Order is an 1980's cliche, predictable comedy about taking things for granted. But, that being said if you know that going in...it is a cute and sweet movie with a message about being the better versions of ourselves. Ally Sheedy is fun in her role of the spoiled rich girl who has to prove herself to get back in the good graces of her father. The real show stealer is Beverly D'Angelo as the fairy Godmother. She is witty and funny with great costumes that will give you a chuckle.
