Man Of The House
Jack's planning to marry his dream girl. But her son's got plans of his own!
Funnyman Chevy Chase (National Lampoon's Vacation series, Caddyshack) is Jack, a guy who's found the woman of his dreams (glamorous Farrah Fawcett). Too bad her stubborn 11-year-old son Ben (Jonathan Taylor Thomas from TV's Home Improvement) thinks Jack is a geek! As a test, Ben coaxes Jack into joining the YMCA Indian Guides, led by a wacky suburban dad (George Wendt, Norm from TV's Cheers). Chaos ensues as Jack struggles to prove to Ben that he's not totally uncool! From rain dancing to building a teepee, Jack will do anything to win Ben's approval-and his mom's affection!

Family Movie Fun - Filmgal
As far as family movies go, this one is entertaining for both kids and adults, and it's actually aged well over the years.
It's your standard feel-good family film revolving around a boy's (JTT) acceptance of his mom's (Fawcett) new boyfriend Jack (Chase). When Jack propses to Ben's mom, Ben doesn't want the marriage to go through and instead devises a variety of schemes to get rid of Jack.
Yes it's predictable and you could probably guess what the ending will be right now, but the film isn't dumbed down and does have it's entertaining qualities.
Chevy Chase isn't as over the top as he could have been and instead plays the part relatively low key. All in all it's a film that can be enjoyed by the whole family.who's the man exactly? - movie_goer
Oddly enough i remember when this movie was being casted and filmed they used the forest scene as a back drop in canada to be more precise in Alberta.
This movie is clearly based for a much younger audience ages:5-15. I orginally didn't like this movie because it didn't live up to my high standards of child movies. looking back on it recently its a enjoyable film. chevy chase is trying his darnist to win the heart of JTT because he wants to marry Farrah Faciett (JTT'S mother). now thats settled the movie is comical because Jtt's character is desperate to get rid of him. when they finally warm up, a incident happens and lets down JTT. thats when you find out his biological father always lets him down, to set things right it all works out at the end. Hurray! Both live happily ever after!
