Metropolis
"Metropolis is the new milestone in anime. It has beauty, power, mystery and above all...heart. Images from this film will stay with you forever." -James Cameron
Brace yourself for a totally new experience in cutting edge animation. Based on the classic comic created by Osamu Tezuka (Astroboy), written by Japanese anime legend Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira) and directed by Rintaro (Galaxy Express 999), Metropolis is a spectacular film featuring stunning imagery and unforgettable characters.
In the industrial, tri-level world of Metropolis, Duke Red is a powerful leader with plans to unveil a highly advanced robot named Tima. But Duke Red's violent son Rock distrusts robots, and intends to find and destroy Tima. Lost in the confusing labyrinth beneath Metropolis, Tima is beginning a friendship with the young nephew of a Japanese detective. But when Duke Red separates the two innocents, Tima's life -- and the fate of the universe -- is dangerously at stake.

For all its flaws, Metropolis is an impressively-crafted animated feature. - estefan
An absolutely spectacular-looking film, Metropolis is worth watching for the visuals alone. The level of detail in this is absolutely incredible and though hand-drawn, it's very close to Pixar-level quality. The story itself is decent, though. It starts out rather confusing, but the more you get to know the characters, you become invested in their adventures. The script is also a smart one as it manages to deal with themes of prejudice, race and immigration in a subtle way, while also having the typical "technology isn't perfect" theme we usually find in science-fiction works like this one. There is also a political under-lying theme, which isn't surprised seeing as this is adapted from a manga by Osamu Tezuka (most famous for Astro Boy). The film does drag a couple of times, but as a visual experience for the eyes and senses, it is definitely worth checking out for that aspect alone.Interesting and wistful - Belle_and_Andy
My husband and I enjoyed this movie. It kept us guessing right t'ill the end. The imagery was well transported with the scenario as well as the storyline. Old tech revolutionized with modern tech. Matrix with a swish of A.I. I'm a new at anime so i don't have much to compare it to. All I know is that i enjoyed it and would recommend it to people who love sci-fi.Metropolis ..very unique ! - drummer_boy
Beautifull drawings that captured the drawings of the old comic book it came from with amazing colors and computer generated pictures. Like someone else said before , this movie is a little slow , but if your the kind who loves a good story telling with character development then you will be very pleased . This movie is touching and you really have a feeling that you are watching something very special( and you will probably remember it for a long time ). Its a love story of the future ( robots and human ), also touching issues of the war over the poor and the rich .
It's not a movie for eveyone but give it a try . If it's in your league , you wont regret it !!!
