Mission To Mars
From the director of Mission: Impossible comes the thrilling, eye-popping science-fiction adventure Mission To Mars -- starring Gary Sinise (Snake Eyes) and Tim Robbins (Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me). The year is 2020, and the first manned mission to Mars, commanded by Luke Graham (Don Cheadle, Out Of Sight), lands safely on the red planet. But the Martian landscape harbors a bizarre and shocking secret that leads to a mysterious disaster so catastrophic, it decimates the crew. Haunted by a cryptic last message from Graham, NASA launches the Mars Recovery Mission to investigate and bring back survivors -- if there are any. Confronted with nearly insurmountable dangers, but propelled by deep friendship, the team finally lands on Mars and makes a discovery so amazing, it takes your breath away. Mission To Mars is an action-packed rocket ride that will enthrall you with its stunning special effects and keep you on the edge of your seat.

Nothing Worse - Rymi
I defy anyone to find a worse film than Mission to Mars. The performances are uninspired and the plot doesn't really lead anywhere. Characters disappear inexplicably and their actions are never rational or explainable. The conclusion of the film was hasty and not well thought out at all. I can not believe that I stayed for this whole movie.Fails To Take Advantage Of Some Good Possibilities - revsdd
A team of explorers sent to Mars suffers a mysterious catastrophe, leading to the death of three, with one survivor who can no longer communicate with Earth. A rescue mission is put together to make the journey to the Red Planet. There certainly seems to be enough promise to develop a decent thriller, but it just doesn't make the grade.
Gary Sinise plays astronaut Jim McConnell, who's the key player in this. Now, I like Gary Sinise, but he's best used in a supporting rather than a lead role. He didn't have the screen presence to carry this movie, and no one else in the cast really rises to the occasion and grabs the audience, either. The lack of any believable emotion really detracts from this movie. The special effects are terrible, and in most cases look cartoonish. The space walk scenes are not in the least realistic. I found myself confused about the state of gravity on the rescue ship and on the surface of Mars. I note that on Mars the astronauts walk as though they were on earth, and yet the American flag stays erect as it does on the moon, albeit rippling a little bit in the Martian wind. The story also bogs down from time to time in lengthy and completely unimportant scenes. (The weightless dance; McConnell's home movies.) And I found myself wondering why, when the oxygen on the rescue ship began to be depleted, the computer voice started sounding breathless? Is this a breathing computer? Does NASA put these computers on board just to make sure the astronauts get the point that they're all about to suffocate?
There is one moment in this film when I thought it was all going to come together, when Luke Graham suddenly appears behind McConnell with a mad look in his eyes as though he's about to attack. Is this the suspense we've been waiting for? But the scene passes, and nothing happens - the movie simply degenerates into a silly quest for extraterrestrial life. This is certainly nothing special.I liked It - anemone
As a sci-fi fan since childhood, I can say that I have read and watched alot of variations on the mission to colonize Mars...
This is a Disney film - and as such has the trademark feel good emotional value I often resent.
It is a little too "soft" in places (about the marriages, about the goodwill and togetherness stuff)
But in all this is a well-made and well acted film. Good directing and certainly some interesting visuals. The least believable or developed character would have to be Don Cheadle's - though admittedly it was a challenging role to bring to life.
