Mixed Nuts
'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, the only creatures stirring were a transvestite, a homicidal Santa, a serial killer, the staff of a suicide hot line and a very crazy pregnant woman.
From the director of Sleepless In Seattle comes a hilarious comedy about life, death and fruitcakes. Funny man Steve Martin leads an all-star cast in this cracked up comedy about a suicide hotline where the only people crazier than the clients are the ones answering the phones.

Witty, Silly, Goofy, Charming and often Delightful - OwenM
A perfect ensemble piece where everyone more than pulls his or her own weight. And except for a somewhat cloying "Christmasy" ending that's completely at odds with the lunacy that precedes it, the whole thing falls together with a delightful payoff and resolution that charmed the daylights out of me. With the ravishing and always brilliant Madeline Kahn who lights up anything and everything that she was in.Good Schtick is NOT Slapstick - Great Movie - Old_Video_Man
This is a really good movie. It's not slapstick, but more of a "Black Comedy" dealing with the lighter side of weird suicide counselors, the accidental demise of a serial killer, a homicidal pregnant woman, and a transvestite, all at Christmas time, and with a gun-toting Santa thrown in. It's not your typical Steve Martin movie because it has more of an ensemble cast, and a star-studded one, including Rita Wilson, Adam Sandler, Liev Schreiber, Rob Reiner, Juliette Lewis, Anthony LaPaglia, Robert Klein, and Madeline Kahn, whose performance alone is worth the price of admission.Couldn't finish the movie - ComedyFan019292
I cringe thinking about the "slapstick" comedy of Steve Martin. He falls over desks when he's just standing near. He slips on nothing and falls to the floor for no reason. These little "comedic" moments were scattered throughout the portion that I watched. I watched 2/3 hoping it would get better, but it kept on getting worse. Everything seemed forced and unnatural and for the most part, it just wasn't funny. I thought Adam Sandler's parts were okay and his songs were funny at times. And, Rita Wilson looked nice all dressed up. Those were the two small things I liked about the film. If you don't like it right away, don't keep watching. It doesn't get better. The bottom line is this movie was terrible and stupidly unfunny.
