Monty Python's Life of Brian (Criterion)
"The funniest and most sustained feature yet from Britain's bad boys." - Leonard Maltin
After slaying the Arthurian legend in their now classic Holy Grail, the Pythons set their sights on the Greatest Story Ever Told. Blind faith, virgin birth, crucifixion - nothing is sacred in this epic send-up of ancient times, which draws on the cornball biblical blockbusters of the 1950s to lampoon celebrity culture in any era. Criterion has gathered the guilty parties- including John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin - for two audio commentaries as provocative and hilarious as the film itself.

Both Life of Brian and Holy Grail kind of benefit from people liking them more in retrospect than in the moment. Nostalgic movies, I guess. It's been years since I've seen Life of Brian, but I remember it being kind of slow in the middle. The ending is absolutely fantastic though.Warped Sense of Humour Required - Boris
I love the British, I almost always enjoy their humour.
This, however, was not that funny. My friend assures me that I obviously didn't have 1/4 of the movie. He laughed out loud a few times.
The funniest part: the latin lesson. Just obnoxiously funny at that point.
I've been told that the whole Monty Python series is a must-see. I am not too convinced after watching this movie. The best of the Monty Python films - Rgrant_EDM
"Life Of Brian" is my favorite of the groups films, and I consider it pretty much a must see. A hilarious satire, that runs close to the edge of bad taste but never fully get's there, this is the Python film that feels like a movie, as opposed to a collection of sketches based around a theme (not to take anything away from the other films, they are just as entertaining.)
The DVD is pretty great. the print looks a little worn, but still better than I've ever seen it before. The extras include some deleted scenes that are in pretty rough shape, a couple of commentaries that a skipped through and seemed pretty fun, and a nifty documentay done at the time of filming which was also alot of fun.
Fun fun fun! Well worth getting!
