Mountains of the Moon (Full Frame)
Two strangers made friends by a savage land. Two friends made enemies by the civilized world.
In the 1850's, two British officers, Capt. Richard Burton (Patrick Bergen) and Lt. John Speke (Iain Glen) set out on a spectacular adventure to discover the source of the Nile. They are warned that great dangers await them, but against all odds they push on deeper and deeper into the magnificent, untamed African wilderness, where no western man had ever gone. As the difficult journey takes its toll, Burton and Speke forge a strong bond. A bond that one will eventually betray. But history will be the judge as the two intrepid explorers venture into realms perilous to both body and soul in their quest for the secret of the Nile.

Enjoyed this film very much - had wanted to see it for a long time after seeing a similar film called "Burke & Wills" about the explorers who crossed the Australian outback. Mountains of the Moon was a fascinating glimpse into the life of Richard Burton. I always think that if a historical film makes me fire up Wikipedia afterwards it's held my interest. Beautifully filmed and well acted. Recommend if you like historical pictures.Mountains Of The Moon - Doug3
I love this movie. I first saw it in the theatre and never get tired of it. Both Patrick Bergen and Iain Glen are excellent in their respective roles of Burton and Speke. Being an historian I've researched this particular topic and the movie is quite historically accurate. Both characters are fascinating, as is the outcome of their friendship and goal of finding the source of the Nile. If you love historical, dramatic, character-driven movies, you'll love this one.
