Multiplicity
Sometimes to get more out of life, you have to make more of yourself.
Overworked and over-scheduled, contractor Doug Kinney never has enough time for his wife and family. So when a helpful geneticist offers to "xerox" Doug, it seems like the perfect solution--until the clones begin to take over his home, his job, and his bed. Keaton takes on four hilariously distinct roles as the comic possibilities quickly multiply in this genuinely funny, touching romantic comedy.

Michael Keaton does a great job, he really runs this whole movie. About a man who doesn't have enough of himself to go around. The cloning "science" is laughable, but it doesn't really matter, its not about being believable. The interplay between the different copies of the main character are well done. The love story is good too.Keatons rock ! - jocedeg
Michael Keaton shines in variations on his role as a hard working man who just doesn't have enough time.
So he gets cloned and the craziness starts as each of his slightly different personas have a hard time keeping a low profile. From the tender caring sentive guy to the macho to the retarded "flawed" copy, Keaton shows that he himself is a hard working actor that can go to great lengths to make us laugh. And he succeeds !Multiple-personality disorder . . . as a comedy! - RoddyPiper
This very original film is a parable: try to orchestrate and govern all of our egos -- inside one single, crumbling personality. It is 2a superior comedy, where the imaginative concept is deep, and it returns to your thoughts long after the film is over . . . .
The film begins with Doug Kinney driving himself into a breakdown, wishing there could be two of him, to make his complex world work properly. A genie in the form of a genetics researcher (-- white lab coat, the works) grants his wish by way of a clone: Doug#2. In the short term this works great. But before long Doug#2, needs a Doug#3 . . . and so on. The Dougs run up against one of Parkinson’s immutable laws, that work expands to fill all the time available to do it; consequently . . . EVERYTHING IS STILL NOT GETTING DONE!
There is another problem arising, because in addition to Doug’s work not getting done, there is also a competition developing among all the clones for supremacy in living Doug's life . . . like, for example, which one gets to sleep with the beautiful wife? (No, Andie McDowell is not going to get cloned . . .)
This is one of my favourite comedies. I think it is very unique film, a funny parable with something intelligent to say about what in reality are scary and unfunny things -- like multiple-personality disorder, like the hazards of stress, and like what might happen if our integrated mixture of traits and behaviours split up, had a war, fought each other, with the winner DECIDING TO TAKE OVER . . .
