Mystery Men
They're Not Your Average Superheroes.
The hippest cast in history has united to become the funniest superhero team ever. Ben Stiller, Janeane Garofalo, Hank Azaria, William H. Macy, Greg Kinnear, Geoffrey Rush, and Paul Reubens join forces in this wild, funny and thoroughly original misadventure.
When Captain Amazing, Champion City's legendary superhero, falls into the hands of the evil madman Casanova Frankenstein and his disco-dancing henchmen, there's suddenly a chance for the aspiring superheros to show what they can do. They're the Mystery Men... a ragtag team of superhero wannabes featuring: Mr. Furious, whose power comes from his boundless rage; The Shoveler, a father who shovels "better than anyone"; The Blue Raja, a fork-flinging mama's boy; The Bowler, who fights crime with the help of her father's skull; The Spleen, whose power is pure flatulence; Invisible Boy, who's only invisible when no one's watching and the Sphinx, a cliché-spewing philosopher.
With its outrageous adventure, incredible cast and hip alternative humor, Mystery Men is so irresistibly funny and appealing, seeing it just once will never be enough.

Mystery Men is nothing more than guys who fail in society and some who still live with their moms... none the less they beat the odds and build thier own molds to what they think Superheros are. In other words: A man with good intentions and some muscle are capable of anything... sorta.
Mystery Men" isn't an excellent movie by any means, but it could've been worse. It's about some heroes who want to become superheroes just like Captain Amazing. Captain Amazing gets kidnapped and it's up to The Shoveler and the rest of the crew to try and rescue him and save the world from Casanova Frankenstein's wrath.
Parts of "Mystery Men" are funny and parts of it are interesting, but overall it comes up a little bit short when you compare it to some of the great movies of the year. I would recommend seeing it if there's not anything else on tv, but I wouldn't recommend buying it.Low brow nonsense - ThePianoManII
I'm no lover of artsy movies--bring on Pulp Fiction, Die Hard(s) and romances (When Harry..., Sleepless...) but those movies all spoke to an adult audience.
This movie is written for 7 year olds. While it had a few amusing moments (even for a 43 year old), the dialogue and humour for the most part had me crawling out of my skin.
If you're 7-10 years of age, go ahead and enjoy; otherwise, pass.A weirdly touching film - LunaSkya
This is not the best movie in the world by any stretch of imagination. But for all its flaws, it's very funny, and strangely touching. A group of "superheroes" who have absolutely no super powers seems much more appealing to me than a bunch of actual superheroes: it's easy to save the world if you have the strength of 500 men or can fly, but try doing it if you're just a regular Joe Scmoe (and somewhat of a loser). The movie's many political touches (the real superhero is in the endorsement business) and its sendup of superhero cliches (the superhero actually releases the super villain from the mental hospital because he needs somebody to fight to get his endorsements) are its best parts. And of course any time Geoffrey Rush gets to attack people with a sharp pinky nail, I'm there!
