New York Stories
One city. Three stories tall.
Get ready for a wildly diverse, star-studded trilogy about life in the big city. One of the most talked-about films of the year, New York Stories features the creative collaboration of three of America's most popular directors, Martin Scorsese (The Color of Money), Francis Coppola (The Godfather) and Woody Allen (Hannah and Her Sisters).
Life Lessons
Nick Nolte stars in this passionate tale of a world-famous painter town between his obsession for his art and his infatuation with his sturdy but unresponsive assistant (Rosanna Arquette). Directed by Martin Scorsese.
Life Without Reason
Talia Shire and Giancarlo Giannini star in this whimsical fantasy as the childlike parents of Zoe, a very grown-up 12 year old girl who brings charm and magic to life in New York. Directed by Francis Coppola.
Oedipus Wrecks
Woody Allen directs and stars in this hilarious comedy as a neurotic lawyer who cannot escape the one woman who looms larges in his life-his mother (Mae Questal)! Mia Farrow and Julie Kavner star as the "other women" who further complicate his situation.

I wish that New York Stories didn't exist so that Woody Allen's Oedipus Wrecks could have been its own feature. It was hilarious. He makes short movies anyways, wouldn't have been that much of a stretch. It single handedly saved New York Stories. Scorsese's and Coppola's were huge bombs. So uninteresting.Woody Shines - xYJx
Classic Woody Allen absurdity saves this film from being a total mess. While the ingredients sound like a recipe for success, three of the top directors in filmmaking, the stories seem to grow stale. Woody's absurd comedy (think Bananas or Sleeper) shines above the others. A good watch, if only for the historical context it provides.Falls flat...way flat! - DBoss
I heard big things about this collection and especially about Life Lessons starring Nick Nolte, which was the only well done one in the collection. It's interesting to see the young Sofia Coppola's first attempt at writing and it goes fairly well but , I really hated the characters whether it was intended or not, so I guess that is a positive. There is not a whole lot to say about this collection, another Woody Allen disaster, there that was one more thing. This is worth the rent for just Life Lessons alone but skip the rest.
