No Way Out
"A tightly wound and engrossing thriller!" -The Hollywood Reporter
Imagine being a hunter leading highly trained bloodhounds in pursuit of a killer... and the trail leads directly to you! Starring Academy-Award winners Kevin Costner and Gene Hackman, No Way Out is "a mesmerizing look at Washington power" (The Hollywood Reporter. Capturing a well-deserved four stars from critic Roger Ebert, this "taut [and] stylish" (Newsweek) thriller is fast-paced and powerful - "a perfect nailbiter" (Variety)!
In a fit of rage, Secretary of Defense David Brice (Hackman) murders his mistress. To keep a lid on the scandal, Brice's loyal aide (Will Patton), creates the perfect cover-up: he "invents" a more enticing killer - a Soviet spy - and then enlists naval commander Tom Farrell (Costner) to find him. But as a chilling twist of fate would have it, Farrell also has a strong connection to the victim... and now all the clues he's been hired to uncover are leading straight to him! In a desperate race against time, Farrell's search for the killer is not only a matter of national security, but also a matter of saving his own hide.

I'm sure some technical error explains why the Rotten Tomatoes site rates this at 100%. Glitches happen. The truth is, this movie is not all that good. The movie improves considerably once the grating Sean Young dies, but it still doesn't rise above standard-issue potboiler/thriller. Even the estimable Gene Hackman disappoints; he shows absolutely no interest in his role. The young Kevin Costner is pretty good in this, but his low-wattage star power is enhanced by the dimbulbs around him. I would give this movie a pass; you casn surely find something better to watch.really disappointed - Moir
I felt like someone had tried to sneakily give me a drink spiked with an addictive drug in this film's clumsy use of unnecessarily ouvert sexual display. To my taste the mode of presentation of anger provoking violence seemed also to be overdone as if to seduce attention more than to make what could have been a more effective film. (It seems to me that the urge to smash bad guys is a lousy reason to watch something as well as being a lousy way to go about accomplishing anything effective in the real world ).
I also thought having the very twerpy and nasty jerk of an assistant to the Hackman character in the film be gay was unfortunate also. Why add this gratuitous stigmatisation that seems to me would be offensive to anyone's sense of fair play?
Remove all that I object to above and what was left would have simply been a film that felt as mediocre as cafeteria mashed potatoes and unidentified meat thing of the kind that used to make lunch time on bad days sickening when in grammar school.Like Watching A Time Bomb- Tense - Kissfan
This Movie was a solid thriller featuring Gene Hackman and Kevin Costner doing good jobs in their roles. The movie has a solid premise and creates tension that is not contrived and fully believeable.
Many thriller fall victim to unrealistic twists and turns whilst this one stays true to the plausible!! THERE REALLY IS NO WAY OUT!!!!
This Thriller is plain out SMART.
But stay tuned to the BITTER end as twists keep coming to the bitter end.
a Solid 3 star and a good ZIP for Zipsters!!
