Passenger 57
He's an ex-cop with a bad mouth, a bad attitude, and a bad seat. For the terrorists on flight 163, he's very bad news.
Air travel is safest, the FAA says. But the FAA never figures the risk with Charles Rane on board. "The Rane of Terror" has masterminded four terrorist attacks. Soon there will be a fifth--and that's bad news for passengers on Flight 163. But there's good news too: the man in seat 57!

PASSENGER 57 IS WESLEY SNIPES' BEST MOVIE! - ryu2cool
As an action hero Snipes belongs to the school that plays it cool and cracks jokes and kung-fu kicks when the going gets rough, all with a nonchalant glint in the eye, as if he were fully aware that the film is really a live-action cartoon.
Payne as his villainous and unabashedly racist counterpart brings a similar comic-book audacity to the psychopathic fiend.
I was particularly surprised to see a very young version of a face I was certain I recognized, but couldn't put a name to. Elizabeth Hurley! Male chromosomes take note.
To its credit, the film doesn't dilly-dally in going about its pulpy routine, with some very decent action scenes for its time. You know what's going to happen, but it's interesting to see how.Die Hird on a plane - outlander78
Following Die Hard, I bet numerous scripts were pitched as "Die Hard, on a ..." or "in a ..." and so on. This one is on a plane. In the context of classic action movies, this one is reasonably well written, acted and directed. It is an entertaining movie to kill some time watching. If you haven't seen it, and like the old style action movies, give this one a try.A Silly "Shoot It Up, Punch 'Em Out" Movie - revsdd
If all you want in an action movie is guns blazing and fight scenes, then this will satisfy. There's a lot of gunfighting in this one, and Wesley Snipes proves that he knows something about the martial arts. His fight scenes are well done for the most part. In general, though, the movie repeatedly insists on descending into silliness, with a story that makes very little sense, even as actions movies go.
Snipes plays John Cutter, a security expert who's just been hired to be chief of security for Atlantic International Airlines. He boards a flight for Los Angeles not knowing that the FBI is transporting a vicious terrorist on the same flight. The opening scenes involving terrorist Charles Rane and his attempt to escape the FBI by fleeing a plastic surgeon's office, where he was going to have his appearance changed, was pretty dramatic and established the nature of that character reasonably well. Unfortunately, the extended opening development of Cutter seemed unnecessary and overlong. The real problem here though (and where the movie lost all credibility with me), has to do with Rane's plan for hijacking the flight. Sly Delvecchio - who's one of the bigwigs with the airline - keeps complaining that the FBI didn't tell the airline that they'd use that flight to transport a dangerous criminal. But that makes sense to me. Why tip anybody off? So even the airline doesn't know that he's going to be on the plane. How, then, did Rane manage to get not just one but two of his people on board the plane - not as passengers but as crew? Sure, there could have been an FBI mole, but they'd still have to know far enough in advance to manipulate the schedules to get these two on that flight. A silly and too convenient plot device.
Really, there's very little of note to this. It's an action flick among action flicks - but even sillier than most, and adding nothing original to the genre. I did like Cutter's comment to Rane, though: "always bet on black!"
