Pee-Wee's Big Adventure
When Pee-wee met Tim - a comedy classic got hatched!
Two of the most original talents in recent decades - Pee-wee Herman and director Tim Burton - teamed on what was to be the major breakthrough in this riotously funny movie about Pee-wee's cross-country search for his stolen bike. As Pee-wee encounters bikers, cowboys, crooks and a phantom trucker and passes through the Alamo and Warner Bros. Studios, any resistance is futile: unstoppable laughter always follows. Celebrate the one-of-a-kind magic that this mirthful, colorful, bountiful movie still packs.

Pee-Wee's Big Adventure was the first film Tim Burton ever directed, and the collaboration makes a lot of sense. Burton has always been obsessed with arrested adolescence and the outsider, and Pee-Wee sums up both ideas quite well. I first saw the movie as a child and loved its gleeful spirit. Now? I see that there are a whole lot of smart jokes that probably flew over my head as a kid. Recommended. The merging of three new, awesome talents~! - XTRUClerk
What happened to Paul Reubens was one of the sadder instances of the media destoying a carrer. Okay, so he exposed himself, but he didn't go to a playground to do it, he was in an adult movie theater! The media portrayed him like a child molester! It's sad because Paul is a really good actor with a really clever sence of humor. Take Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. The first real, big time exposure for not only Reubens, but also a director named Tim Burton and a composer named Danny Elfman. These three talents somehow converged, at the beginning of their respective careers, and what imerged was brilliant and different. Big Adventure is like no other film, funny, weird, even scary at times. Tim Burton would never be this creative again, though everything here would be repeated in his others movies here and there. Danny Elfman... What can you say about this score? I've grown tired of him lately, everything of his sounds the same -- Spiderman's score for example is just the score to Batman thinly revamped. But this score is his best, bar none, and at the time nothing like it had ever been heard before. And Paul... Good old Paul. I love this movie. It's one I've seen many times and never get tired of. It's a shame what happened to Paul, but at least this movie is still around. A real gem of oddness and goodness. Great commentary track too! Cheers.Great flick - Filmgal
Pee Wee's Big Adventure was one of my favourite childhood films and it only gets better with age. Even now, yesrs later, on repeat viewings, I still ge the same sense of satisfaction from viewing the film.
By no means Tim Burton's finest or most memorable film, Pee Wee remains a jewel in my collection. The humour throughout the film ranges from very childish gags to verbal adult humour and innuendo hidden from the kids. There's something for everyone, young and old, in this film.
