When Ivy is invited into Sylvie’s privileged world, she is instantly intrigued. Sylvie’s father (Tom Sherritt, The Other Sister, Contact) is a handsome TV newscaster; her mother (Cheryl Ladd, Permanent Midnight, TV’s Charlie’s Angels) is a beautiful Beverly Hills wife. Yet tensions in the home run deep - providing a license for malice that Ivy is quick to seize
With one slick seduction, Ivy sets off a chain reaction that makes Poison Ivy one of the most provocative and erotic thrillers ever filmed.

Tape decks, square cars, and frizzy hair. The storyline and the acting was very believable and representative of the times (~late 80's early 90's) but the outdated props made me cringe. I have watched all of this series; Poison Ivy 3 and 4 are better but 1 and 2 seem outdated and unrefined. I think this was the worst of all 4. The movie Chloe, is a more refined version of this tale. There was only about 3 heavy sex scenes in the story.Selling Sex over Substance - FilmJunkie
A pretty sexy stupid movie about a bad girl (Drew Barrymore) who becomes an icon for a loner (Sara Gilbert).
The film is over-sexed and misgynistic, but the actresses have their charm.
Of course the bad girl has to seduce the good girl's father. This film is abound with similar cliches.
I wish Sara Gilbert was in more movies!
