Fun trip to Cheesytown - Poet
I love John Waters films, especially those with Divine in it. They contain a special kind of humour that wont reach everyone but that will be a fun trip for those who love it.
This film is cheesy, but it is meant to be that way. It is sort of an hommage to fromage! The acting is over-the-top, the storyline is absolutely crazy and we are taken on a wild ride.
I just wished I could have seen the film in Odorama!Wicked - Unedited_Meat
In more ways than one, this movie is Art, plane and simple. The movie embodies everything about John Waters, Divine, and Edith Massey, I hold so dear. Edith Massey is my hero, and when I die I hope to god she is waiting at the gates of heaven for me. This movie is a must watch. A++I liked the gimmick - InpraiseofFolly
but the type of humour used went right over my head. I'm assuming John Waters was trying to make an homage to cheesy Hollywood movies from the 1940s and that he was trying to be shocking. The performances were all over the top, except for Divine who was actually very convincing. I don't think I laughed once. If you like other films by the same director you may be able to appreciate the humour in the film but I could not
