Scary...When I Was Six - rocksteady
I can remember watching this film the year it came out, in a dark basement with two of my friends, well after midnight. Good god, it was frightening.
Having re-watched the movie later on in life, it became less frightening but much more gripping. It was jam-packed with emotion and ideas, and also featured a stunning performance from Sean Patrick Flannery.a good story and promises to entertain - Mercury
this is a really wonderful story that speaks to the inner sadness and darkness of humankind. while the storyline is great, the characters were not very convincing at times, and could they not have at least found a real albino to play the part of powder? however, having the electromagnetic and supernatural gifts allowed me to delve into the paranormal and sci-fi aspects of it rather than focus on the lack of realism, which it truly wasn't trying to achieve. while there are plenty of ways it could have been better, I felt it was entertaining, heartwarming, spoke truths of humankind that we all need reminders of, and helped all those who don't fit in feel that sometimes fitting in is not quite what it's cut out to be.Kind of like 2001 - Alyosha
made by a bunch of kindergarten kids on a really, really bad sugar high!
"Making an albino electromagnetic genius the hero of a somber teen-age-misfit movie is a bad enough idea. Despite its odd hero, the film is lethally dull. Powder goes to school, Powder gets his first kiss, Powder gets bullied by the other boys. (Apparently no one in town has noticed the lanky, pasty-skinned Powder's startling resemblance to Michael Jackson; when he wears his fedora and dark glasses, it's eerie.) "
