Prizzi's Honor
They're giving love a shot-in the back of the head!
Get ready for a mob hit that's "funny as hell" (L.A. Weekly), when legendary director John Huston takes aim at family values in "one of his very best films" (Roger Ebert)! With "a superb cast" (Boxoffice) led by Jack Nicholson and Kathleen Turner, this killer comedy scored eight Academy Award nominations including Best Picture and an Oscar for Anjelica Huston.
The Prizzi family's principal hit man, Charley (Nicholson) is about to discover that he and his new bride (Turner) share more than just body heat: They're both cold-blooded assassins and their next job is to ice each other! Now Charley must choose which contract to honor-the one to his wife or the one on his wife-in this "wickedly amoral black comedy" (Screen International)!

At first I didn't quite know what to make of this. Nicholson's performance is fantastic, but I couldn't get the vibe. But it grew and grew on me. I'm not normally in to these Mr. and Mrs. Smith type movies but this one works because the world they create is so believable (as mob movies go for believability). Turner is wonderful as usual, in addition to Nicholson's awesome performance. And it's funny, though it's a little more subtle than the description suggests. Two greats at their best - Mr_Humidty
"Prizzi's Honor" offers two of modern cinema's great actors, working at their best. It also offers a fine example of master director, John Huston, and his work. He deftly takes the audience on a twisted tale of love and intrigue. I thoroughly enjoyed this film.A pleasure to see again - kap0n3
I loved this film when I saw it in 1985. To see it again after seeing film and series like the Godfather, The Soprans etc is a treat. It is a lovely film, elegant,well-played with a with lots of humor. Jack Nicholson pays the not very intelligent Charley Partanna with flair and a lot of humour. Kathleen Turner is beautiful as ever. The rest of cast is also very good. John Rudolph playing his charing but very dangerous father, Angelica Huston is magnificent as the deserted MaeRose who wants to revenge Cahrly but still loves him. The music is very much a part of this intelligent film. It is a joy to listen to how it comments or highlights what happens in the film.
