Psycho
Alfred Hitchock's masterpiece of the macabre stars Anthony Perkins as the troubled Norman Bates, whose "old dark house" and adjoining motel are not the place to spend a quiet evening. No one knows that better than Janet Leigh, the film's ill-fated heroine who is victimized in the now-notorious "shower scene."

Psycho is a classic of Alfred Hitchcock's about a young woman who stays at the Bates Motel and doesn't make it out alive and the story of Norman, the young man who runs the hotel and is under the control of his domineering mother.
For the time, Psycho was a great movie. It delivers the right amount of thrills and chills. Plus, who doesn't love how they used chocolate syrup/sauce for the blood (only in a black and white film could you get away with that). She just goes a little mad sometimes. - RottenRon
What can I say about psycho except if you haven't seen do yourself a favor and zip it. How often or how can a movie become such a part of our culture, especially a movie that was so graphic and disturbing for it's time. Film was never the same after this, it makes me wonder why studios were still able to produce Frankenstein and Dracula films for the Horror genre post psycho, now that's psycho! One of the greatest thriller of all times - Coconut_Willy
All suspense film directors will forever be compared to Alfred Hitchcock and this is one of the best example why. Relatively simple storyline, well developed put to the screen magnificently. Shot in black and white on purpose with a very low budget for a legend like Hitchcock, the result is nonetheless stunning. The cast is very good, doing a very good acting job with a great dialogue mixed with silent scenes at appropriate moments. Anthony Perkins gives the performance of his life in the role of Norman Bates; up to a certain degree, he probably never recovered from it. The sets and locations are perfect, the soundtrack is superb and the camera work is excellent. Great shots but mostly, incredibly memorable scenes. In my book, the best film ever in the genre and undeniably one of Hitchcock's masterpieces. Well worth repeated watches.
