Quest For Fire
"Tense, touching...and fascinating." -Leonard Maltin
Set 80,000 years ago, this accomplished "cinematic spectacle" (New York Magazine) follows the lives of four tribes of early man-each with their own customs and stages of development. As they all face perilous terrain, human rivals and savage predators, one peaceful tribe searches for the element that will bring comfort and safety to all of mankind: fire. While celebrating human drama, this stunning film, shot on location in Scotland, Iceland, Canada and Kenya, also offers fascinating insights into prehistoric man's survival.

Anthony Burgess created the primitive language for the early humans in this prehistoric adventure about a trio of warriors who travel the savanna, encountering sabre-toothed tigers, mammoths and cannibalistic tribes in search of a flame that would replace the fire their tribe has lost. Great scenes for an older prehistoric flic.Spoiler alert - nobbymcdobby
They like, totally find the fire and everything. There's no words in this movie, so how did they make it. What did the script look like, was it just describing all the different grunts? That is weird. It made me appreciate that we have discovered fire. We need fire, it keeps us hot and everything. Fire is very important for our society and I shudder to think what would happen if we lost it.Quest For Fire - Fivepin
Quest for Fire is very detailed in its depiction of prehistoric man and presents a fascinating, imaginary glimpse of humankind some 80,000 years ago. This movie doesn't contain a word of understandable english as the cavemen simply gesture grunt, or squeal to communicate and yet you will find yourself laughing at their antics and holding your breath as they run from some nasty predators and other not so civilized tribes in their quest to find the one thing that can help keep their own tribe alive. Fire.
Well written with stunning videography this movie's script might not be worth two grunts, but the visuals alone are worth a watch. An excellent evening of entertainment. 4 out of 5 stars.
