I heard millions of references about this movie, endless quotes and conversational snippets about the underwear scene or Tom Cruise's breakout movie. Finally watching it thanks to the ability to rent movies at low cost via zip, I must say it was not like it had been built up to be by almost everyone who ever talked about it.
A solid movie but average in many parts, the best thing was the not-so-violent, angry pimp -- he steals some guy's furniture and makes him buy it back after. Wow, that's a bad man.Hot potato - movie_goer

Risky Business is a Classic for a BUNCH of reasons. First it launched the career of Tom Cruise. Without Risky Business Tom does not move into hyper drive.
It introduced us to a lesser light ,,, Rebecca DeMornay who went onto to do some good character work and play the Psycho Nanny in the Hand That Rocks the Cradle.
It WAS also the First in a long line of Classier Teen fantasy type movies. (American Pie, Something Bout Mary) These movies have their antecedents buried within Risky Business.
Other reviewers do not realise that the First of a Gendre is a Classic. Why... Because IT gets copied over and over and over....
Finally.... Go watch The Girl Next Door released in 2004... It is the Ultimate Risky Business Tribute.
In the END Risky Business is a Classic of it's gendre and ABSOLUTELY a Zipster's must SEE.
Hey it ain't Citizen Kane or The Rules Of the Game BUT it still is a movie for thae ages (however light it might be)
