Rocky 5
"A powerhouse 10!"-Susan Granger, American Movie Classics
Upon returning home from his latest triumph, Rocky (Stallone) learns that all of his money has been lost by an unscrupulous financial advisor. To make matters worse, his fight related injuries force his retirement from the ring. So, Rocky, his wife Adrian (Talia Shire) and his son Rocky, Jr. (Sage Stallone) move to their old low-rent neighborhood in South Philadelphia. There, the fighter must resolve the deep-rooted resentment held by his son, a bitterness that grows when Rocky trains Tommy Gunn (Tommy Morrison), a young boxer who soon rises to national prominence. When Tommy turns against his mentor and publicity taunts him, Rocky knows he must fight once more.

Indeed, if they wanted to depict head trauma and its symptoms, they really did well. Stallone is one notch down from his usual talent, or he really plays a punchy Rocky well. Either way, this movie followed well in the continuity after the beating that he took in R4. I don't know if it was necessary to make him lose everything as well, but all in all, it was okay. What I really liked, though, was the final fight. Now that was new! Talia Shire also shone once again, if not more this time around :)Another Great Rocky Flick in the Rocky series - Sort Of - Mykull
Another Great Rocky Flick in the Rocky series.
The only down fall is Stallons real son acting in this flick, and Tommy Gun as well... to predictable, but anyway, recommended rental if your a Rocky Fan. Not to mention talk about a six film to be released soon?
I feel that since I had been a fan of the first Rocky movie that the others kept true to the 'rocky' theme, and his road to being the best. Sure its not as GREAT as the first Rocky movie, but really what second or third or forth movie can keep up to the original.... which again this one does. But of course if your a fan your gonna want to see this movie to keep yourself up to date of Rockys life. The final Rocky movie - JulioSof
This movie should not be criticized somuch. It went along just right with the three other sequels. This is a little depressing though and goes kind of far when Rocky has to sell almost everything he has. George Washington Duke try's to be the Don King of boxing in this film and is a little annoying. Once you decide that's just the way the director wanted to go then you will see that this movie is and should be accepted to the Rocky saga. Tommy Morrison, the guy who plays Tommy Gunn, really boxed for a little while in his real life and was pretty good. I think they made the best decision by not having the fight between Rocky and Tommy in a ring and having it on the streets. Rocky put on a show for his old neighborhood and wasn't trying to inpress anybody, he was just fighting for his pride there. It sure is a little creepy when he has those flashbacks of Apollo Creed dying and Mickey screaming and talking to him but it was a nice touch. You must get this movie to complete the Rocky saga. God bless you and have a great day.
