Rush
"A monolithic achievement!" -Los Angeles Times
What happens when two cops stop loving their job.... and start living it? This "emotionally riveting, powerful and unsparing film" (Variety) exposes the plight of two narcotics officers who cross the line... and become enmeshed in the dangerous but intoxicating underbelly of the drug world.
Jason Patric (Your Friends and Neighbors) and Golden Globe Nominee Jennifer Jason Leigh (Dolores Claiborne) give "rich, full blooded performances" (Entertainment Weekly) as undercover officers Jim Raynor and Kristen Cates, partner who become lovers- and addicts -as they infilitrate the local drug scene in order to bring down a suspected drug lord.

As the synopsis indicates, this movie depicts the development of a co-dependent relationship and concurrent descent into drug addicted hell of two otherwise decent people. A little too grim for me. Jennifer Jason Leigh is a great actress though. Watch her other films. For the music if not the movie - kap0n3
For those who claim this film unrealistic, mind you it is based on a true story. I hail Rush as one of the most powerful and emotional films to ever portray addiction. The characters coupled with Pete Dexter's realistic and sincere dialog paint a very sad, yet human picture of our culture. Our need to punish crime, yet our inability to steer 100% clear of it, is one of many themes intertwined with Rush's story. This film is a fine example of true filmmaking. There are no big effects, no trick stunts, yet one cannot turn away from the screen. Everything from the sutle production design to Eric Clapton's score make Rush a true modern classic.Good but not Great - Maddog
I watched this and enjoyed it a fair bit. I find it extremely rough/raw and it makes it tough to watch at times because the people are so messed up. The acting is very good from Patric and Leigh and they seem believable. At times it is too much or not believable which prevented me from giving it a higher rating. Perhaps cause I'm not a heroine junkie I just can';t understand and perhaps it is more realistic than I realize. Anyway this is worth a watch but not for the faint of heart.
