Sabrina
"A 10! And one of the 10 best of the year!" -Susan Granger, CRN International & American Movie Classics
Love is a funny thing. Especially when Harrison Ford, Julia Ormond and Greg Kinnear form the warmest, winningest romantic triangle ever. Directed by Sydney Pollack (Tootsie), Sabrina shimmers like a fairy tale come true. Ford plays Linus Larrabee, a busy tycoon who has no room for love in his appointment book. But when a romance between his playboy brother (Kinnear) and Sabrina (Ormond), daughter of the family chauffeur, threatens one of Linus' business deals, the CEO clears his schedule for some ruthlessness. He courts Sabrina, intending to drop her when the deal closes. Will "the world's only living heart donor" discover his heart? Of course! But, like the best journeys, the fun isn't just the destination, it's the getting there.

....or a steaming cup of hot chocolate on a winter's day, this film is cozy, warm, and familiar.
It's outdated, even with the update, old fashioned, predictable, and yet somehow so charming, due in large part to the great cast, and the luminescent Julia Ormand. She's fantastic here, and the camera loves her.
It reminded me of the Father of the Bride remake in this reguard - a great story doesn't need a lot of changes, but it does need a great cast to tell the tale.
My two cents on the whole "remake" debate? I don't think they have to be better, as XTRUClerk says, I think they have to be different. Its about a new director's vision.
Some are of the school of thought that only bad movies should be remade, and good movies left untouched. But, as has been said before, Shakespeare's plays have been done countless times, by countless different actors and directors. Why shouldn't good material be allowed to be revisited?
The original should still be enjoyed, but liking the original shouldn't mean you can't like the remake, or even that you should constantly compare the two.
This film hearkens back to a different time, that makes you think maybe things could be this sweet and simple. A nice coming of age/finding yourself story, with a healthy dash of romance.A Classic in its own right! - bumble
Yes this is a remake, but in my opinion, better than the original. Julia Ormond does pale in comparsion to Audrey Hepburn but the 1991 version expands better on how Sabrina falls in love with Harrison Ford's character, which is the basis of the movie. All in all I would recommend everybody should see both movies and form their own opinions. Both are classics.Pale remake but still good - XTRUClerk
I really liked Sabrina... Until I saw the original. The thing about remakes is that they should be better than the original, and this one is simply not. Harrison Ford is better looking than Humphrey Bogart and it's perhaps less of a mystery why young Sabrina falls in love with him, but Julia Ormond, though lovely, is simply no match for Audrey Hepburn in the charm department. Sabrina, the original, is also lighter, livelier, and more fun to watch than the remake. This one if dull in comparisson. I still like Sabrina, both of them, but if you're only going to see one see Bogart's. If you see both see this one first. Odd way to do it but you'll thank me believe me. Cheers.
