Scrooged
"A side splitting comedy smash..." - Peter Travers, People Magazine
High-spirited high jinks on Christmas Eve put Frank Cross (Bill Murray) in a ghostly time warp in this hilarious take-off of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” Cross, who has made the meteoric rise from the depths of the mailroom to TV network president, is mean, nasty, uncaring, unforgiving and has a sadistic sense of humor - perfect qualities for a modern-day Scrooge.
Before the night is over, he’ll be visited by a maniacal New York cab driver from the past, a present-day fairy who’s into pratfalls and, finally, a ghoulish, seven-foot headless messenger from the future.

I have fond memories of this movie, but likely only because I was just the right age when it came out. It's not brilliant comedy and the "Christmas Carol" story is incredibly over-done, but I just can't help it - I love this movie.
Bill Murray has a number of funny lines that still crack me up, and I'm quite pleased that my teens love this film as much as I did when it came out.
If you can take it for what it is - a lame 1980's comedy, then you'll be able to appreciate the ridiculousness of it and just enjoy the show. If you take it too seriously, you will be disappointed.A great re-imagining - egyptnation
I hadn't seen this film since I was a young child and I was glad to know that I still loved it as an adult. Be warned though, this is not a traditional retelling of A Christmas Carol. Imagine if Scrooge was a big-wig TV producer in late 1980s New York and you start to have an idea of what you might get yourself into. Bill Murray is great in another now-classic sarcastic performance.Middle of the Road Dickens Adaptation - Mr._Monster
Scrooged is one of those odd films that are enjoyable despite being neither particularly good nor memorable. This '80's yuppie-updated adaptation of Dicken's classic A Christmas Carol offers little of the emotional depth of other versions, both earlier and later, instead glossing over the ghostly lessons in favour of Bill Murray's hamming for the camera. And it must be stated as well, that this is by no means the funniest of X-mas fare either. It's good for a few laughs, but ultimately, the movie is something of a mess. It's still very enjoyable, with some excellent cameos (look for Buddy Hackett as Scrooge in the TV show!) and I'd certainly recommend it as holiday fare. Just don't make it your only holiday viewing.
