Good version of Sense and Sensibility - northernwatcher
An entertaining adaptation of the novel. Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet were well cast as the Bennet sisters, however Hugh Grant seems only to be able to play the part of a bumbling, doofus. He was totally miscast in the role of Edward, which should have been portrayed by a much more serious actor.Sense & Sensibility - TheWiz
This modern take on Jane Austens' Classic love story and 'a la Dicken's' clash of the classes, is truly a gem with everlasting lessons for both the young and the old. Set in England during the height of the industrial age, a greedy young step-brother sets his step-Mother and her three daughters off on an unforgettable journey of loss, love and romance. Superb acting by the whole cast, smart dialogue with beautiful cinematography, this smartly set flick will please all. A must see.Excellent Film - kav2001c
Very well done period piece by Ang Lee
All star cast well acted all around deals with love and betrayal, scandals and unrequited love
If these kind of books are your taste this movie is well worth a look
When Mr. Dashwood dies he leaves his estate to the son by his first marriage, which leaves his second wife and three daughters in straitened circumstances. They are taken in by a kindly cousin, but their lack of fortune affects the marriageability of both practical Elinor and romantic Marianne. When Elinor forms an attachment for the wealthy Edward Ferrars, his family disapproves and separates them. And though Mrs. Jennings tries to match the worthy (and rich) Colonel Brandon to her, Marianne finds the dashing and fiery Willoughby more to her taste. Both relationships are sorely tried.
