Sexy Beast
Ben Kingsley is "the most savage, mad-dog, frothing gangster in recent movies." -Roger Ebert, The Chicago-Sun Times
Ben Kingsley is unforgettably menacing as "the anti-Gandhi" (The New Yorker), delivering "his best performance ever" (Premiere Magazine) in this high-voltage film that crackles with style and wit.
When sociopathic gangster Don Logan (Kingsley) tries to recruit an ex-partner in crime (Ray Winstone) for a high-stakes heist back to London, the retired criminal refuses, favoring the legit life after serving a prison term. But Logan won't take no for an answer. Tension hits the fever-pitch as this battle of wills plays out in a story that is as funny as it is terrifying.

Another Depraved Gansta Flick - newdaysof
I rented this DVD because I really like Ben Kingsley as an actor and because the movie was filmed in Spain. However, within the first few minutes of watching, I realized I made a mistake.
None of the characters in this film are likeable. They all sit around drinking, smoking, eating and swearing. There is no character development - just fear, violence, gorrific scenes, more violence, more swearing - what's the point? Is this what the human race has amounted to? A bunch of ganstas sitting around doing nothing, contributing nothing to society, their lives punctuated by extreme violence and fear every few days or two? Shame on Ben Kingsley for being in this film and shame on the writer, director and actors for making this piece of garbage. Not for sissies! - Alyosha
See it for the suspenseful story.
Or see it for Ben Kingsley's astonishing performance as a mad dog psychopath who can scare you just as badly when he's quiet as when he's in a tearing rage.
Or see it for Ian McShane's performance as the coldest, deadet-eyed most unreadable thug you can imagine.
Or for the unexpected, peripheral & yet not so peripheral married love between the central character & his wife...
But SEE IT!Sexy Beast - bosoxx
A fine film of its kind. Good tone of menace throughout. Excellant characterization even of bit players. The director deserves a medal. The three leads are very good & Kingsley produces a truly intriguing interpretation of a eccentric behaving psychopath
