Shock Waves
Beneath the living... Beyond the dead... From the depths of Hell's Ocean!
In the dark days of World War II, the Nazi High Command ordered it's scientists to create a top secret race of indestructible zombie storm troopers - un-living, unfeeling, unstoppable monstrosities that killed with their bare hands. They were known as The Death Corps. No member of this horrific SS unit was ever captured by the Allied Forces - and, somewhere off the coast of Florida, they have survived...
Peter Cushing (The Curse of Frankenstein), Brooke Adams (The Dead Zone) and John Carradine (The Howling) star in this suspenseful and genuinely creepy shocker co-written and directed by Ken Wiederhorn (Return of the Living Dead II)- one of the great horror "sleepers" of the 1970s. Although the film's original negative mysteriously disappeared over 20 years ago, Shock Waves has now been transferred from the director's own vault print and digitally restored for this premiere DVD release!

On the plus side, this movie has quite an interesting storyline; a clever variation on the zombie theme that could have been spectacular. Add to this the presence of the ever creepy Peter Cushing, good camera work and makeup effects; you have all the makings of an interesting watch. In my opinion, what's missing here is a bit more action. The sets and locations are good, the soundtrack is appropriate as well as the minimal dialogue. On the other hand, the characters (with the exception of Cushing) are too typical of this style of movie; very similar to Night Of The Living Dead thus, diminishing the originality value.
The transfer to DVD is quite ordinary with some scenes showing lots of visible damage. Recommended to horror fans but don't expect too much spectacular special effects or gore.Really good independent horror film - XTRUClerk
I really enjoyed Shock Waves. It is a low budget film so it's not for everyone, but it has it's moments. There's a scene where all the main characters lock themselves in a meat freezer for the night, hoping the zombies won't find them, that really gets to you in a way that very few scenes in horror films do. Peter Cushing is the best known actor in a solid cast. Always nice to see lovely Brooke Adams in a film (and a bathing suit), she's best know for her role in the original Dead Zone. The scenes with dead, German soldiers returned to life and walking about underwater are so visually interesting and different that they almost make this one worth seeing on their own. Really good independent horror. Have a look. Cheers.Mediocre - SMALLTOWNBOY
Apart from the spectacular underwater photography I thought that this horror flix had little going for it.Too many plot holes.Less than inspired acting on the part of the cast.More or less "Night of the Living Dead" on a island only without the orginality that made that film a classic. Also, the DVD transfer looks to come from a damaged print?
