Six Days, Seven Nights
After This Week In Paradise, They'll Need A Vacation!
A gruff, rough-hewn cargo pilot living in the islands, Quinn Harris hates tourists...though he's not above making a fast buck from a sharp-tongued New Yorker, Robin Monroe, when she's desperate for a quick flight to Tahiti! But this already uneasy relationship suddenly takes a nosedive when his weather-beaten old plane is forced down in a storm! Now, stranded together on a deserted isle, Quinn and Robin quickly discover all the perils of paradise.

This movie had excellent scenery and beautiful tropical locations so it was an enjoyable experience for that. Otherwise I found the humour to be predictable and the action to be less than exciting. So overall an ok movie, but not one I would watch again.More Misses Than Hit's - Gregg
We begin with busy magazine executive (Anne Heche) going off on vacation to a remote Polynesian island with her soon to be fiancé (David Schwimmer). But trouble in paradise arrives by way of a phone call from the magazine about a quick assignment in Tahiti, a crusty old (he was 58 at the time) pilot (Harrison Ford) and a sudden tropical storm. As to be expected the two find themselves all alone on the proverbial desert island forced to depend on one another.
Not surprisingly this isn’t “The African Queen” for the 90’s, neither is it even “Romancing the Stone” for the 90’s what we have here is a fairly lackluster effort from some fairly talented contributors. There is some chemistry between the two leads but unfortunately the script with which they are saddled is chock full of cliché’s, bad jokes and has absolutely no excitement whatsoever. The supporting cast is given very little to do for the most part with the exception of Schwimmer (who really didn’t have much success in his early cinematic forays) and Jacqueline Obradors as the significant others who both overact embarrassingly, though admittedly that could be the fault of the script. The director was Ivan Reitman a man who has made some great comedies but has had his equal share of embarrassing duds. The was the first script Michael Browning and really hasn’t had anything more successful than this.Just a fun little movie - CorrieG
I enjoy this movie. I think the script is something a little more than usually found in romantic comedies, the performances by Ford and Heche are both great, and Hawaii is as ever, lovely.
I'd recommend it for anyone seeking a little bit of romcom escapism.
