Don't know why I love this movie, but I do. Maybe it's just because I was actually a teenager during the time period this movie takes place, but it's a cute story. Not without it's weirdness - these kids are too much into sex - but still a funny story but it makes me glad I'm not a teenager.SIXTEEN CANDLES - BLUEDIETCOKE

Probably the most risque of the John Hughes Brat Pack movie, this concerns a girl whose family has forgotten her birthday and she tries to survive this tragedy of the epic proportions by crushing on the hottest guy in school, Jake Ryan.
Anthony Michael Hall and his geek co-horts steal the movie by really giving the idea of geek a face that will last for decades. John and Joan Cusack show up in small parts (that water fountain scene with Joan is pure genius) that resonate.
It is a fun highschool comedy that tests the boundaries of what you can get away with when you have teens on screen.
Everything that came after was somewhat watered down, but 'Candles' burns bright.
