Woody Allen clicks again with this little crime story. The seldom (unfortunately) seen Tracey Ullman and the almost never seen Elaine May provide wonderfully zany support to Woody Allen's impressive starring role. The story has been done before (tunnelling into a bank except it turns out to be a neighboring bakery/deli or whatever. But given Allen's slightly crazed interpretation, we have a pleasant, diverting outing.woody done it again - Arcadian
Being a fan of woddy allen films this movie is as funny as it is ironic. i Love the story and mostly i enjoyed how the acting was performed.
A relaxing movie which is told threw the actors and ofcourse woody allen performance cannot be missed in this one.A nice surprise for those that are about to rent it....expect a nice little twist !!!A light, funny farce - CanCinephile
Small Time Crooks is a farce of the highest order, in my view. It does contain some uneven segments and isn’t always laugh-out-loud funny, but it doesn’t have to be to effectively tell this story. The relationship between Ray and Frenchy is sweet and charming in its own way, as the bickering and nonsensical exchanges between the characters highlight a harmless and enticing comedy from Woody Allen. Small Time Crooks is well worth a look.
