Soldier
Galactic wars of the near-future are fought by soldiers trained to be merciless, obedient warriors. But times change. New bio-engineered combatants make veterans like Sgt. Todd obsolete. But don't expect to toss Todd on the scrap heap without a fight.
Spectacular in scale, Soldier backs its searing action with a startling vision in which mammoth "crawler" vehicles roam, planetary outcasts survive amid the jetsam of Earth's past and technology is almost beyond human control. It's a vision that's more than an eerie future. It's a total combat zone.

Kurt Russell is heavily endurable in this role. In fact in some ways this is the kind of role that was simply made for him and no other substitute would do. As far as Action and Sci-Fi, Soldier certainly lands itself as a solid title, the acting was sparse (a good thing) but the shooting and blowing up of stuff and things was dead on.Well done - FieroGT
This is a good flick in my books. The dialogue is a little sparse but Kurt Russel plays the role perfectly. He is a soldier of the future and is a man of few words. The story has a few slow spots but what movie doesn't. The effect are very well done but are not over the top. The fight scenes are well correographed and flow well. The settlers Todd encounters are fine on their own until a training mission brings them into the line of fire of the next generation of soldiers. Well worth the rentalCatatonia Is Art - Port_Moresby
Somehow Kurt Russell's fixed expression for two hours doesn't work against him; he's actually appealing as the killing machine who learns from a bunch of ragtags apparantly living in Fraggle Rock to be a human and fight against the system that created him. The plot is EXTREMELY familiar, not so much hitting you over the head with its allegory as much as bludgeoning you, but the special effects are pretty and the actors seem slightly aware of the value of just saying the lines and collecting their paycheques, so while it won't thrill you, it won't make you angry either.
