A whimsical romantic comedy which compares all men to cows!!! - moviemonger
One cannot be both jaded and sweet at the same time. While a seemingly obvious notion, the new romantic comedy "Someone Like You" appears unable to grasp it. The movie wants so desperately to be cute and good-natured, which wouldn't have been a problem if the source material weren't so cynical. The film isn't aided by its own satiable self-indulgence in oversimplifying its message ... that virtually no member of the male gender is faithful or decent. The main character spends so much time whining and crying and griping and complaining and moaning yet the movie never aspires to be anything more than the pretentious sum of its jaded parts. The film would rather vent its frustration than take the time to actually be about something. The sweet and cute SOMEONE LIKE YOU is a whimsical romantic comedy which is compartmentalized into nifty sounding little chapters, including "Establishment of Intimacy," "The Vocalization of Emotions," and "A Call to Arms." You may not laugh a lot, but you won't mind since you'll be too busy being charmed. Only the presence of the very likable Ashley Judd and Hugh Jackman make the movie watchableStay away from this one ..you might be sorry - Porkchop
If your main objective, is the study of human relationships,
social rapports between humans, and believing that 24/7 people
need to obsess about feelings they have about other people, and
what others feel about you, about conquering and seducing other
people, this movie is for you.
Not an embarrassing movie, at all, for any of the actors. Just,
a nutty story, and enfatuation of the author of the script with
people, relationships, seduction, etc.Someone Like You is a fun movie - Marilyn
Light hearted fun and romance are the staples of the process from I meet you, I love you, you left, I’m heartbroken but there is love after a break-up. Lots of humour about the comparison of men to animals and the use of emotion in clouding/effecting our judgements. I enjoyed the easy pace and recommend this movie.
