Space Cowboys
They trained body and mind for America's leap into space. When the moment came, the brash flyboys of Team Daedalus were replaced. Now, 40 years later, another moment has come. And this time, it's all theirs.
Directing for the 22nd time and starring for the 42nd, Clint Eastwood leads a stellar cast into orbit in this exhilarating high-tech adventure. Tommy Lee Jones, Donald Sutherland and James Garner join him as old-school test pilots whose grasp of outdated technology makes them the only ones able to repair a primitive, deorbiting Russian satellite that imperils Earth. Strap in for "some of the rightest stuff around" (The Wall Street Journal). With an irresistible payload of heart, humor and heroics, Space Cowboys is all-systems-go.

While much of the film is predictable (except for a couple of surprises) and and almost certainly implausible, the movie was enjoyable because of the camradarie between the characters and the theme of redemption. How often does someone get a second chance and then also make good on it? The sets and special effects were very convincing and Eastwood seems to be good at both the artistic and technical aspects of directing. There's great chemistry between the stars as well. All in all, a very enjoyable movie, 8/10.mighty fantastic! - movie_goer
"The Thing i love most about Clint Eastwood is he constantly evovles as a person and actor."
Eastwood who is hardly ashamed to face the reality of growing older, stars and directs a wonderful sci-fi adventure. Space Cowboys is an unusual Movie title, true to it's orginal name the movie is equally unique. To be honest I wasn't sure what to expect so i watched it with an open mind. And surprise, surprised i loved it!Grumpy Old Men in Space - karembeu
The fact this movie has four of my all-time favourite actors in it (Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, Donald Sutherland, James Garner), meant it was a must-see. When you add in James Cromwell, Bill Devane, Barbara Babcock and Marcia Gay-Hardin it just means you know they won't be let down by those around them... and they are not!
The plot isn't rocket science, well, not really - four aging ex-astronauts finally get the shot to go into space that they felt they deserved the first time around... and of course the guy who denied them that opportunity is now the one who has to ask them to go, to repair a dying satellite. As usual, all is not as it seems, and the Space Cowboys have to use their (vast) experience to save the day.
Sutherland steals a lot of scenes in this movie, and the humour is well balanced with the advancing dramatic plot, in fact the humour is what saves this pretty lame plot. Yes, the ageist jokes get a bit tedious, but the chemistry between these four screen legends is impleccable - you get the impression that no other combination of actors could have done this, they are that good.
