Superman 2
This continuation of the adventures of the Man of Steel (Christopher Reeve) takes up where the original left off, showing spectacular new tricks to surpass it! "I thought the original Superman was terrific entertainment," Roger Ebert wrote, "and so I was a little startled to discover that I liked Superman II even more."
Three fugitive super-powered Kryptonian do-badders (Terence Stamp, Sarah Douglas and Jack O'Halloran) plan to enslave the Earth -- just when Superman decides to show a more romantic side to Lois Lane (Margot Kidder). The timing is off for the son of Jor-El, but it's ideal for a special-effects fan's dream come true as Metropolis comes under siege. Gene Hackman (as Lex Luthor) also returns from the first film and with a top supporting cast, witty Richard Lester direction and visuals that astound and delight, this comic book-come-to-life has become an enduring all-family wow!

For some reason, Superman 2 didn't really do it for me. I'm not sure if it was that the plot was sort of hokey or that the performances weren't really that good (except for Margot Kidder and Terence Stamp) or that Superman just isn't a hero I enjoy. For whatever reason, Superman 2 wasn't very entertaining in my view.
Others who enjoy Superman will likely get a kick out of this gentle adventure story, however.very good - seb1
his is the best of the Superman movies because of the three villains, played by Terrence Stamp, Sarah Douglas and Jack O'Halloran.
Those three are so good, particularly Stamp, that they make this easily the most memorable of the four films. The scenes with them on the moon, their first encounter on earth and their climactic fight against Superman in the skies above Metropolis are all outstanding.
Once again, Superman goes a little overboard in his romance to Lois Lane (do you believe some reviewers are upset there weren't explicit sex scenes in the film?) Hey, folks, it's just a comic book and it's supposed to be innocent, clean fun. Sorry that turns you off. For the rest of us, this is generally very enjoyable film from start to finish, with no real lulls.Great Follow up - but not as good. - Mykull
Great follow up to what was one of the best super hero films of its time. With most follow up movies you usually can expect them not to be as good.. this one comes close, but the humor sort of ruins the whole movie from time to time. But if you can look past that... your in for a great movie... The story line is still keeping with the whole superman idea / theme and keeping tight with the original movie as well. Well worth a rental to follow the man of steel.
