Swing Kids
They fought for the freedom that bound them together.
In 1939, Nazi Germany declares war on freedom and demands conformity from its youth. But a group calling themselves Swing Kids rebel with their "swing music" from America. When two of them dare to stand up against the powerful forces around them -- traditions will be broken and loyalties must be crossed! Robert Sean Leonard and Christian Bale deliver gripping performances as two friends who must choose between their individual freedom or loyalty to the murderous Third Reich. Also featuring screen favorite Barbara Hershey. "Swing Kids" is an inspirational and powerful story about friendship -- and finding the courage to fight for what you believe in!

Enjoyable period piece with a message - JayA
More drama than musical, though it does feature some nice dance numbers with the swing kids. I didn't enjoy the acting on this as much as every one else, though Robert Sean Leonard is great as always. Good story though, and good period piece, but it seemed a bit heavy handed to me in places. I think if you saw it years ago it was probably more detailed than it would be if you see it for the first time today. Still enjoyable, but I don't think I enjoyed it as much as lots of others.awesome and thoughtful! - idapita
great movie... i still love it all these years later!! its great coz it gives you a taste of swing music and dancing... and young people growing up... and how naziism insinuated itself into the culture through hitler youth etc. i think thats the scariest part. how unobvious something like that is when you're in the middle of it. and how people will change in ways you don't expect.Wonderful Movie - PHabsch
This is a touching and beautifully put-together movie. I love the dancing, and the storyline is marvelous.
It really puts into perspective the pressure that was put on the youth of Germany of that time, and how simple it would be to just follow blindly.
A real eye-opener.
