Teaching Mrs. Tingle
"Lots of Fun!" - Los Angeles Times
Written and directed by Kevin Williamson (Scream, Scream 2, TV's Dawson's Creek), Teaching Mrs. Tingle is a cool, cutting-edge comedy starring Hollywood's hottest young talent! Leigh Ann Watson (Katie Holmes - TV's Dawson's Creek, Go, Disturbing Behavior) is the brightest girl at Grandsboro High...but her dreams of a much-needed college scholarship are sabotaged when her history teacher, the dreaded Mrs. Tingle (Helen Mirren - The Madness of King George), falsely accuses her of cheating! Desperate to prove her innocence, Leigh Ann conspires with her friends Luke (Barry Watson -TV's 7th Heaven) and Jo Lynn on a scheme that will teach Mrs. Tingle a lesson of her own! Before they know it, however, their plan spins hilariously out of control...and becomes an endless comedy of errors! Also featuring Vivica A. Fox (Independence Day) and Molly Ringwald (Since You've Been Gone) - you're sure to delight in all the fun and thrills of this hip movie treat!

This could have been a very dark film along the same lines as Heathers. Teaching Mrs Tingle certainly started out that way.
Most of the film is fun and entertaining. Certain parts try to convey a more serious and thoughtful side. The fun parts worked for me. The serious parts for the most part fit well into the story but a couple of times I thought it was a little forced.
All in all it's a good film. No complaints.Silly Film Of No Significance - revsdd
A rather silly little flick about an evil teacher (Helen Mirren) who tries to make up for her own failures by ruining the future dreams of her students, who then take their revenge on her. Supposedly a "suspense" film, there's precious little suspense involved. The movie rehashes most of the plots of previous movies of similar genre.
The part of Mrs. Tingle is performed well by Mirren. She is really the only truly bright spot in this movie. In the first half, we get a rather humorous view of Mrs. Tingle presented as a sort of "Wicked Witch of the West" figure. There are also a few chuckles that come from what we learn about Mrs. Tingle's relationship with Coach Wenchell (played by Jeffrey Tambor in a minor but very funny role.) Aside from that, however, there is very little to commend this movie. The three teen leads (Katie Holmes, Marisa Coughlan and Barry Watson) make very little impact, although the movie revolves around their actions. I thought this movie really broke down at the end, with a series of plot twists and turns that reminds a viewer of "Witness For The Prosecution." The problem is this isn't "Witness For The Prosecution," and the plot twists here just come across as rather silly.
This movie's OK, but no better than that lukewarm endorsement. It would probably appeal to teens, and it will pass an hour and a half, but thankfully it's no longer than that.Love it! - OSUGARFOOT
I loved it, The kids loved it! Very funny and kept us watching. Maybe not so good for the younger kids, Having 2 younger and 2 older it was fine for the older, 10 and 12. Great to see Katie before all her now drama! Put it the zip list, Very different story line
