Tequila Sunrise
A dangerous mix
Mac McKussic may have quit the business of drug dealing. But-inside and outside the law-the business won't quit him. In this high-gloss, high-stakes thriller Russel is Mac's pal Nick, a cop under pressure to bring Mac down. Pfieffer is a cool restauranteur torn between feeling for Nick and Mac and Julia plays a Mexican lawman with shady intentions.

Tequila Sunrise - TheWiz
This is the best performance I have seen from Russell. Even though this is a glitter flick from the 80's, full of drugs & sex, the plot is surprisingly fresh. This is a murder mystery with some interesting twists and depth in the directing, cinenatography and acting. Mel & Michelle are stars and they show why they are in this movie with solid performances. So basically, two friends, one a drug lord and the other a cop, wrestle with their demons, the law and become entangled with an attractive businesswoman.Nothing is as it seems - The_Cunninghams
The movie stars Mel Gibson as Dale McKussic, the nicest drug dealer you'd ever want to know. "Tequila Sunrise" is an intriguing movie with interesting characters, but it might have worked better if it had found a cleaner narrative line from beginning to end. It's hard to surrender yourself to a film that seems to be toying with you.
Nothing is as it seems. No character can be taken at face value. We learn more about the characters when they're not on the screen than when they are. And even when we think we've got everything nailed down, he pulls another rabbit out of his hat, showing us what fools we were to trust the magician.Worth the watch - Radio_Jane
I liked this movie even if few others did. It ingeniously takes two overdone plotlines (boyhood pals on opposite sides of the law and boyhood pals in love with the same girl) and weaves them together to make something fresh. Throw in the drama of a drug deal for some danger and you have a mix as wonderful as Valleneris riggatoni quatro fromagi. The icing on the cake (or I guess the cheese on the pasta) is Raul Julia, who Carlos gives one of his wittier performances. This film is immensly quotable (mostly for Julia's "No man should be punished for wich way his dick goes") and is fun to watch. Spend an hour or two with this one, you will like it.
