From a classic book to a great movie! - MoviesRUS
This flick was very well done. It was a family friendly (kids and parents liked it) although I would have done away with a few words that my children now like to say. They were however intrigued and my eldest now likes reading the book which is a double bonus since I love the book also. Elijah Woods was the perfect choice for this character. He really brings it to life.
Altogether, I would recommend it highly!Elijah Wood Deserves Accolades For Huck Finn - bwod
I have never read the book by Mark Twain, so I have no prejudices towards this movie version. My comments are based solely on what I viewed on the dvd. Elijah Wood, because of the central role of Huck, carries the film - no mean feat for a 12 year-old. The rest of the cast is equally good. Directing was professionally handled by Stephen Sommers. Beautiful locations and scenery embellished the production. All-in-all a very good movie for everyone, although some scenes may frighten the little ones.A great adventure - ladydoor
This was a very enjoyable film. A young Elijah Wood does a fine job as Huck Finn, and the supporting cast is good as well. My 14 and 9 year olds liked all the adventure and suspense, but it did scare my 8 year old in places. It doesn't pull any punches about the violence Huck and Jim encountered. Sensitive viewers might need an adult presence. That said, it's a film that adults will enjoy, too, so grab it for family night and be ready to answer some tough questions about slavery.
