Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark
Get ready to globe-trot with one of the big screen's greatest adventurers. When Dr. Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) -- the tweed-suited professor who just happens to be a celebrated archaeologist -- is hired by the government to locate the legendary Ark of the Covenant (resting place of the original Ten Commandments), he finds himself up against the entire Nazi regime. Steven Spielberg and George Lucas teamed up to create this all-time favorite.

Never could get into Indiana Jones - Silverthorn
This is a classic film in many people's eyes. For some reason, I could never get into the movies. I watched them on VHS, then borrowed the DVDs to watch again years ago and just couldn't get into any of the action. Maybe I need to watch it again to see if I would like it, but I can't get into any George Lucas flicks. This includes Star Wars.
I think it is a little overrated to be honest and don't understand it. But this is just my opinion. The Greatest Adventure Film of All - MovieProf
I remember seeing this one back in 1981. I was in awe. I wasn’t very old, and that’s one reason that this movie has stuck with me. The other reason is that this is just one great flick.
Harrison Ford was already on his way to stardom when he decided to star in this film, having completed the first two “Star Wars” films as Han Solo. George Lucas, the “Star Wars” creator, is also the creator of this film and its sequels. Steven Spielberg was brought on board to direct.
The plot is zany but fun: Indians Jones is a high school archaeology teacher by day, but spends his spare time chasing treasures all around the world and fighting bad guys. When he is offered the chance to head to Egypt to search for the lost Ark of the Covenant, he embarks on what I can only say is the best action/adventure story of all time. Battling Nazis, Indiana will stop at nothing to find the Ark and bring it to a museum where the world can view it instead of exploiting its awesome power.
Everything works here: great actors, a strong story, a great music score provided by John Williams (“Jaws,” “Star Wars”), and a great director. A definite must-see.Classic - outlander78
"Indy, why does the floor move?"
"Snakes. Why did it have to be snakes?"
"Asps, very dangerous. You go first."
I doubt such a person exists, but for those who have not seen this movie - it is a classic adventure story about an American racing against a Frenchman backed by Nazis, both trying to secure the Arc of the Covenant. None of the characters are overly upstanding, and most of Indiana's allies turn on him at the least opportune moment. This is a fun movie from start to finish. The humour, set pieces and special effects hold up well.
This is a great movie that gave us many memorable scenes that have been copied time and again - the closest thing to an American James Bond franchise.
