The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert
Extra Frills Edition
This wonderfully inventive and incomparably funny Australian film about three drag performers braving the vast, rugged outback won the 1994 Academy Award for Costume Design. Featuring fabulous and heartfelt performances from Terence Stamp (Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace), Hugo Weaving (The Matrix), Guy Pearce (Memento), and a busload of all-new laugh-out-loud Special Features, this is "one of the wildest movies ever made" (Rex Reed, The New York Observer).
They came. They conquered. They looked fabulous! With a contract to perform a drag show way out in the Australian desert, Tick (Weaving), Adam (Pearce) and Ralph (Stamp) each has his own reason for wanting to leave the safety of Sydney. Christening their battered, pink tour bus "Priscilla," this wickedly funny high-drama trio heads for the outback... and into crazy adventures in even crazier outfits. You Go, Girls!

This would only offend homophobes who are afraid of gay men because they are worried they might be attracted to them. There's a tiny little bit about bigotry but it's barely addressed and mostly passed over/glossed over. I laughed maybe twice. But I know this is the kind of thing that people love. Most of these jokes are the kind of broad, inoffensive jokes that appeal to tons of people and offend few. This is why this movie is not what it could be. Watch Hedwig and the Angry Inch instead.Priscilla - Felix1
The Adventures Of Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert is One of my all-time favorite. Whenever I feel like I need a bit of a pick-me-up, I watch this movie. I love the music, the costumes, and the great humanity. I always find myself singing along, like the fool that I am once in a while and smiling broadly! Beautiful sceneries too and an unusual look at Australia. I highly recommend it.Campy Piece of Fun - Dave4
Funny, witty, campy and classy. It plays like a gay travelogue for Australia's outback. Three drag queens go on a road trip from Sydney to Perth and bitch and fight and bond. That doesn't sound like much of a story but you'll be surprised at just how good it is. Rent it and enjoy it. You'll be glad you did.
