The Animal
He wasn't much of a man... now he's not much of an animal.
He might not look like much, but it's what's inside that counts. Comic genius Rob Schneider (Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, Big Daddy), TV's "Survivor" Colleen Haskell, John C. McGinley (Any Given Sunday, The Rock) and Edward Asner (The Bachelor, JFK) star in the most outrageous and hysterical comedy of the year.
When evidence clerk Marvin Mange (Schneider) answers a 911 call of a burglary in progress, his dream of one day becoming a cop seems to be coming true. But a freak car accident en route to the crime leaves Marvin and his dream a shattered mess. When Marvin awakens a week later, he finds that a deranged scientist secretly used animal organs to rebuild his broken body. Energized by his new and improved parts, Marvin achieves instant fame as a super cop until his animal instincts start taking over his body at all the wrong times. And when he finds himself falling for the lovely and sexy Rianna (Haskell), it's animal magnetism at its craziest in the funniest and wildest comedy of the year!

Another Saturday Night Live alumnus bites the dust. Although most of the comedians who have graced SNL over the last 30 years have been terrific on television - have you ever noticed how MOST of them have bombed when it came to starring roles in movies ?? And I don't mean earning returns - just quality.
TV humour becomes trite and boring when one tries to stretch a 10 minute idea into a 90 minute movie. The field is littered with these ex SNL actors who have made a mockery of the word comedy in the movie realm......Chase / Akroyd / Sandler / Schneider / Ferrell / Myers / the later Murphy movies / Farley / etc.The Animal - Moviegal1
I watched this solely on the basis of Rob's great performance in Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, and I have to say I was very disappointed. All the jokes in this film are in the previews and trailers, so if you have seen them, I would say skip the film. That's all there is, strung out with an improbable plot, some sexual twists, and a bit of carnage. This type of film might appeal to people who can laugh at an improbable chain of events such as Home Alone, and certainly many enjoyed that film. But a lot of them may have been children, and the sexual themes here are quite possibly NOT what you would wish your children to see, so then if there are any adults that got pleasure from something like Home Alone, well then you may enjoy this.
You may be wondering why I didn't figure all this out from watching the trailers. Well, while I knew there were going to be a lot of silly gags to make this film work, I also know that these improbable themes where one must suspend reality can be developed in a variety of directions. Take for instance Memoirs of an Invisible Man with Chevy Chase. Tho it does deal with something that likely can't happen (turning invisible) and the gags pursuant to that situation, I found that movie very deep, with lots of subplots. Just my opinion. The Animal - Jasaka
Of course I enjoy most SNL alumni so even if their movies are bad, they're good. I hadn't seen this movie in a while, I had forgotten that it cracks me up several times. I see this movie as the perfect lazy mind entertainment package, when you just don't feel like thinking this movie delivers superbly!
