Paradigm City... A city that has yet to fully awaken.

In this volume, Dorothy, Roger, and Dastun all face personal struggles. Dorothy befriends a stray cat and takes it in. Roger thinks it's cute until the owvers of the cat show up. But what's more, the cat is more than what he seems to be.


Then Roger must once again match wits with Beck, the dapper yet psychotic kidnapper he battled before. Now, having escaped from jail, Beck is up to his old tricks - kidnapping and extortion. When he learns of Roger's involvement in the case, it sweetens the pot.


Meanwhile, loyal Officer Dan Dastun is being haunted by what he thinks is a fragment of a memory. A woman, standing on a pier. Is it fantasy or reality? Past or future? Or is it something that bodes far worse for Dastun?


And, as always, Roger keeps the Big O on standby in case things get rough.
